  • Lung masses or metastasis

  • Interstitial lung disease e.g. fibrosis

  • Mediastinal masses or effusion

  • Unexplained pleural effusions

  • Idiopathic pneumothorax

  • Nasal discharge/epistaxis

  • Orbit: Retrobulbar masses, foreign bodies

  • Ectopic ureter

  • Occult lameness - elbow

  • Complex skeletal lesions e.g. vertebral, pelvic,
    tempormandibular or skull fractures

  • Bone tumours

  • Portosystemic shunts

  • Search for occult neoplasia

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a very new type of imaging technique discovered America in the 1970s and which only became available as a clinical tool in the 80s. MRI uses a magnetic field rather than x-rays or ultrasound waves to produce an image.
